[10:03:17] <skaet> questions?
[10:03:19] <skaet> ..
[10:04:21] <skaet> ok, lets move into round table then....
[10:04:56] <skaet> [Topic] QA team update - pgraner
[10:05:29] * skaet looks around for pgraner or jibel... hmm?
[10:05:45] <skaet> [Topic] Hardware Certification team update - brendand
[10:06:17] <brendand> All I can report is that we've started testing the proposed Maverick kernel
[10:06:50] <brendand> ...
[10:07:20] <skaet> thanks brendand. Which oneiric daily do you intend to start testing next week?
[10:07:50] <brendand> tbh, i don't know
[10:08:12] <brendand> i believe we always use current
[10:08:24] <brendand> so it will depend on which day we start
[10:08:38] <skaet> do you know which day is likely?
[10:10:32] <brendand> i don't
[10:10:38] <skaet> brendand, no worries, I'll follow up with you and ara then offline, and we'll move on for now.
[10:10:50] <skaet> [Topic] Security team update - jdstrand
[10:11:45] <jdstrand> hi
[10:11:50] <skaet> hi :)
[10:11:58] <jdstrand> [LINK] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/ReleaseStatus/Oneiric
[10:11:59] <jdstrand> [LINK] http://people.canonical.com/~platform/workitems/oneiric/canonical-security.html
[10:12:06] <jdstrand> We are currently under the trend line for our blueprints. We've had a skeleton crew this week, and our team is mostly concentrating on updates atm, and getting to work items as we can fit them in. I fixed a milestoned libvirt regression (bug #795800) and my patch was accepted upstream. Looking at the (rather long) list of oneiric bugs, I don't see anything else worth highlighting.
[10:12:08] <ubottu> Launchpad bug 795800 in libvirt (Ubuntu Oneiric) "virsh save fails on oneiric when the apparmor security driver is enabled" [High,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/795800
[10:12:12] <jdstrand> ..
[10:12:33] <skaet> thanks jdstrand
[10:12:48] <skaet> we're talking about getting the list cleaned up a bit off line.
[10:13:10] <jdstrand> cool
[10:13:32] <skaet> any questions for jdstrand
[10:13:34] <skaet> ?
[10:13:52] <skaet> [Topic] Kernel team update - ogasawara
[10:14:45] * skaet looks around for ogasawara or apw?
[10:14:54] * apw is here
[10:15:07] <skaet> apw, any update from kernel team prep'd?
[10:15:15] <apw> Overall status is reported at the first link below. Burn down for the release milestone is at the second link below. Burndown for the cycle is at the third link:
[10:15:21] <apw> [LINK] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/ReleaseStatus/Oneiric
[10:15:21] <apw> [LINK] http://people.canonical.com/~platform/workitems/oneiric/canonical-kernel-team-oneiric-alpha-2.html
[10:15:21] <apw> [LINK] http://people.canonical.com/~platform/workitems/oneiric/canonical-kernel-team.svg
[10:15:28] <apw> We are making solid if slow progress on our Alpha-2 work items. Those items which are slipping are non-release critical related to upstreaming older patches. The oneiric kernel is now at v3.0-1.2 which is based on the v3.0-rc3 upstream snapshot. We continue to track a small number of version number related issues, the latest in nfs-utils.
[10:15:34] <apw> Of the bugs called out on the agenda against the kernel, status is as below:
[10:15:38] <apw> #754711 investigation continues, upstream not currently responding,
[10:15:41] <apw> #542660 seems that the issue is triggered by bugs in the EFI boot some fixes may be in 3.0 needs testing,
[10:15:45] <apw> #760131 local testing looks good with newer 3.0 kernels, some fixes expected via stable for 2.6.38,
[10:15:48] <apw> #791552 appears to be fallout from the switch to newer gcc versions where 'undefined behaviour' has changed, upstream still discussing resolutions, and
[10:15:51] <apw> #796892 likely this is due to an out of date Oneiric ti-omap4 kernel, test kernels being prepared.
[10:15:53] <apw> ..
[10:16:06] <skaet> thanks apw! :)
[10:16:31] <skaet> any questions?
[10:16:54] <skaet> [Topic] Foundations team update - cjwatson
[10:18:58] * skaet looks around for cjwatson?
[10:19:07] <tumbleweed> he was around in #ubuntu-motu 5 mins ago
[10:19:14] <cjwatson> sorry, one moment
[10:19:21] <cjwatson> Feature progress this week:
[10:19:40] <cjwatson> * foundations-o-dhpython-transitions: We have good wiki documentation on doing conversions now. dh_python2 migration underway and making steady progress (bug 788514, http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/transitions/dh-python2.html); bug jam planned.
[10:19:41] <ubottu> Launchpad bug 788514 in Ubuntu Oneiric "python packages on the CDs not using dh_python2" [Medium,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/788514
[10:19:44] <cjwatson> * foundations-o-live-build: Landed. A few regressions, but mostly sorted out now.
[10:19:47] <cjwatson> * foundations-o-great-cd-debate: Switched to hybrid CD/USB images. amd64 builds regressed but are fixed now.
[10:19:50] <cjwatson> * foundations-o-python-versions: Discussing Python 3 CD size issues. It looks as though removing .pyc files from the livefs will offset the extra size of Python 3, although this will need some care.
[10:19:54] <cjwatson> * foundations-o-wubi: Doing design work and planning slideshow changes. Removed Windows entries from the Wubi boot menu (which is already chainloaded from Windows).
[10:19:57] <cjwatson> * foundations-o-multiarch-next-steps: Trying to keep up with syncs from Debian as they land multiarch patches. Some GCC fixes.
[10:20:01] <cjwatson> * packageselection-foundations-n-event-based-initramfs: Continuing work on initctl pivot command.
[10:20:04] <cjwatson> * foundations-o-application-sandboxing: Arkose 1.0 released (http://www.stgraber.org/2011/06/14/app-containing-on-the-modern-linux-desktop/); implemented X, dbus, and pulseaudio sandboxing support.
[10:20:08] <cjwatson> * upstart: Upstart 1.3 released (Ubuntu merge in progress). Discussion on job aliases and "chkconfig-like" tool. Working on shutdown improvements.
[10:20:11] <cjwatson> * java: Evaluating JamVM test rebuild failures.
[10:20:14] <cjwatson> * software-center: Lots of planning with design team.
[10:20:16] <cjwatson> * apport: Hook for software-center; include /var in disk checks.
[10:20:19] <cjwatson> Bugs:
[10:20:21] <cjwatson> * bug 597673, bug 644198, bug 791883: We'll look at these next week (Evan has been at the QA sprint all week so the installer's been a bit short-staffed).
[10:20:24] <cjwatson> * bug 774999: Michael is on this as of today.
[10:20:26] <ubottu> Launchpad bug 597673 in console-cyrillic (Ubuntu Oneiric) "console-cyrillic changes settings on consoles it doesn't own, causing crashes with plymouth + X" [Critical,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/597673
[10:20:27] <cjwatson> * bug 797555: Not actually ours to fix, just requested by us. Incidentally, I'm told that Canonical folks would be better off requesting manual bootstrap builds like this through RT rather than Launchpad.
[10:20:28] <ubottu> Launchpad bug 644198 in ubiquity (Ubuntu Oneiric) "Ubuntu LIve Cd does not enable bluetooth before choice menu in live-cd" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/644198
[10:20:29] <ubottu> Launchpad bug 791883 in ubiquity (Ubuntu Oneiric) "ubi-console-setup.py:set_keyboard() gets error 141 (crashes) in Kubuntu" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/791883
[10:20:30] <ubottu> Launchpad bug 774999 in update-manager (Ubuntu) "[i865G] Upgrade should warn user about lack of support for old 8xx intel hardware" [High,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/774999
[10:20:31] <cjwatson> ..
[10:20:31] <ubottu> Launchpad bug 797555 in libjboss-buildmagic-java (Ubuntu Oneiric) "libjboss-buildmagic-java needs a manual build using the unstable binaries" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/797555
[10:20:55] <skaet> Thanks cjwatson! :)
[10:21:32] <mvo> I'm on #774999
[10:22:33] <skaet> Thanks for the bug updates, looks like we should be good going into the rally then. :)
[10:22:49] <skaet> any questions for cjwatson?
[10:23:07] <skaet> (and thanks mvo, :) )
[10:23:36] <skaet> ok, skipping server for now, per request, will pick it up at end.
[10:23:47] <skaet> [Topic] ARM team update - ogra_
[10:23:54] <ogra_> oh, thats me :)

[10:24:05] <ogra_> Summary:
[10:24:05] <ogra_> * QA from Ubuntu ARM attended the QA sprint in London last week.
[10:24:05] <ogra_> * Additionally to the normal netinstall images, work on mini isos for netinstall has happened, also omap4 support was merged into debian-installer now
[10:24:08] <ogra_> * Further netboot work is waiting for some linaro u-boot ode to land in the archive.
[10:24:10] <ogra_> * Work on adding the ship seed (preinstall pool) to preinstalled images has been started
[10:24:12] <ogra_> * SD speed optimizations are being merged right now.
[10:24:14] <ogra_> * A lot research of the broken USB support with gcc 4.6 has been done by ppisati but is still unfruitful yet.
[10:24:19] <ogra_> * Work on fixing the kernel/bootloader postinst handling has started.
[10:24:21] <ogra_> --
[10:24:23] <ogra_> Image Status
[10:24:25] <ogra_> * Desktop images are currently at 1G which is slightly to big and being investigated
[10:24:27] <ogra_> * Headless/serial images build fine.

[10:24:39] <ogra_> Bugs:
[10:24:41] <ogra_> * bug 791552 is slowly getting critical
[10:24:42] <ubottu> Launchpad bug 791552 in linux (Ubuntu Oneiric) "No USB support on beagle/beagleXM" [High,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/791552
[10:24:43] <ogra_> --
[10:24:52] <ogra_> for the question about armhf from last week i just talked to the guys in #linaro-armhf ...
[10:25:26] <ogra_> seems the hope is to have a minimal armhf image for oneiric if time permits ... but at least to try to get something bootstrappable ready
[10:26:17] <ogra_> ..
[10:26:23] <skaet> Thanks ogra_ ! :)
[10:26:50] <skaet> I'll mark that action item done then. And not look at modifying the image testing list for this release.
[10:27:14] <ogra_> yeah, i dont think we will se anything that we can call official
[10:27:25] <ogra_> but something for the curious to test :)
[10:27:38] * skaet nods
[10:28:10] <skaet> something for the curious is always good though :)
[10:28:14] <ogra_> :)
[10:28:18] <skaet> any questions for ogra_ ?

[10:35:33] <skaet> [Topic] Ubuntu One Team - Chipaca
[10:35:45] <Chipaca> Hi
[10:35:50] <skaet> :)
[10:36:09] <Chipaca> The Ubuntu One installer is currently going through design; engineering work hasn't started yet. Very early days.
[10:36:47] <Chipaca> (it's a 'shim' that'll enable us to do the rapid updates we need, plus some text as to why using u1 is a good idea, etc)
[10:37:01] <pitti> Chipaca: U1 installer> is that for the external PPA? I thought the agreement was to provide updates as SRUs, possibly with bundled libraries and translations?
[10:37:53] <Chipaca> this'll be a step back in how close we've worked (similar to how we worked in 8.04 iirc), while we work out something better in the long term
[10:38:38] <Chipaca> pitti: this is an external ppa. we will be providing updates via SRUs and backports and etc, but none of the solutions gets us all the way
[10:38:44] <Chipaca> so we have to do them all
[10:39:31] <Chipaca> the code itself is not that much, and should be ready in a couple of weeks
[10:39:39] <Chipaca> (but, this is not an estimate)
[10:39:47] <pitti> for the record, I don't approve this with either my desktop TL nor SRU hat on; if we can't provide it with an SRU with bundled libs and translations, we mustn't provide it at all
[10:39:49] <Chipaca> i think that is all
[10:40:48] <wendar> pitti: let's wait and see the full details of their plan
[10:41:31] <skaet> Thanks for the update Chipaca. :) Sounds like there will be more discussion going forward.
[10:41:35] <Chipaca> i can get into some details (not sure if this is the venue), not all of them have been worked out, but it seems pitti's objection is deeper
[10:42:06] <Chipaca> pitti: you want to talk after the meeting?
[10:42:11] <pitti> we can also do that by mail, easier
[10:42:14] <wendar> Chipaca: yes, let's continue discussing in email
[10:42:22] * skaet nods
[10:42:32] <Chipaca> ok
[10:42:33] <Chipaca> ..
[10:42:48] <skaet> any other questions for Chipaca?
[10:43:09] <skaet> [Topic] Desktop Team update - pitti
[10:43:20] <pitti> Landed new X.org versions
[10:43:23] <pitti> Landed the first bits of GNOME 3.1.x, starting with the lower-level libraries (GTK, etc.); we expect to start with, the UI bits in the next two weeks, now that we have a resonably stable GNOME 3.0 in oneiric.
[10:43:33] <pitti> CD space situation: We are 5 (amd64) / 9 (i386 MB oversized again, due to the new Mono transition, new mesa GLES support, and an extra 1 MB due to the new CD format; we expect 4.5 MB growth from new X.org gallium drivers with LLVM, and potential growth of ~ 6 to 10 MB for thunderbird (not firmly decided yet). We already implemented many of the biggest space savings (removing icons, removing less
[10:43:35] <pitti> important software), though. Completing the Mono transition will give us back some 2 MB, and we just discovered that we can free some 12 MB by dropping *.pyc files from the squashfs and regenerate them at install time.
[10:43:47] <pitti> Slow progress on RC bugs, as we are concentrating on updating the platform and getting work items done in this period, and there are no real showstopper bugs right now: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DesktopTeam/ReleaseStatus#rcbugs
[10:43:52] <pitti> The most tricky bugs right now are:
[10:43:55] <pitti> - bug 772873: Not really something new, but seems to have aggravated; we don't have someone who knows enough about compositing and VNC to do much about it, so we can only wait for upstream there.
[10:43:58] <pitti> - bug 787694: This is a prerequisite for a tight integration of the Ubuntu settings panels into the GNOME control center; however, this is still being discussed, it could also be that we drop the control center shell and provide a unity lens for it, in which case this wouldn't be needed.
[10:44:02] <ubottu> Launchpad bug 772873 in vino (Ubuntu Oneiric) "Vino does not work with compositing" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/772873
[10:44:03] <ubottu> Launchpad bug 787694 in gnome-control-center (Ubuntu Oneiric) "GNOME 3 System Settings: Allow Python Programs (or general programs) as embedded capplet" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/787694
[10:45:38] <skaet> ..?
[10:46:33] <pitti> ..
[10:46:35] <pitti> sorry
[10:46:47] * pitti should add that to his c&p report
[10:46:52] <skaet> pitti, does it make sense to leave 772873 milestoned at A2, since we're waiting on upstream.
[10:46:54] <skaet> :)
[10:46:59] <pitti> it's not
[10:47:10] <pitti> it doesn't make sense, no; it's by far not a milestone blocker
[10:47:42] <pitti> we do have one milestone blocker which causes empathy and deja-dup to get unusably slow, but it's not reported as a bug yet (fix is being worked on upstream)
[10:48:02] <skaet> thanks for the heads up.
[10:48:02] <pitti> we had several bugs which are true milestone blockers, but we usually get them fixed within days anyway
[10:48:49] * skaet nods
[10:48:55] <skaet> any other questions for pitti?
[10:49:14] <skaet> [Topic] Desktop Experience Team Update - dbarth
[10:49:29] <dbarth> hi
[10:49:32] <skaet> hi :)
[10:49:38] <dbarth> report as usual at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DesktopExperienceTeam/OneiricReleaseStatus
[10:49:55] <dbarth> in short, we're finally making tarballs and releasing parts into oneiric
[10:50:05] <dbarth> new unity-2d https://launchpad.net/unity-2d/+milestone/3.8.8
[10:50:21] <dbarth> new unity-gl
[10:50:32] <dbarth> new overlay scrollbar https://launchpad.net/ayatana-scrollbar/0.2/0.2.1
[10:50:41] <dbarth> New sound API update, with accompanying sound indicator: https://launchpad.net/indicator-sound/fourth/0.7.1
[10:51:04] <dbarth> also a couple of touch libs updates: utouch-grail 2.0.0 and utouch-geis 2.1.0 to Oneiric
[10:51:13] <dbarth> see the report for further details
[10:51:32] <dbarth> there are a couple FTBS and issues that are being worked on by chase and cjwatson i think
[10:51:48] <dbarth> a few thngs are late however
[10:52:08] <dbarth> libgrip, gtk23shim; we'll do better next week
[10:52:27] <dbarth> also, at last we landed the natty SRUs for unity
[10:52:54] <dbarth> and the cert team has been able to confirm the changes do fix a good part of the garbled screen bug
[10:53:14] <dbarth> the multi-monitor part is still being investigated, but it's at the driver level now, we're almost sure
[10:53:21] <dbarth> ..
[10:53:32] <cjwatson> there was a dpkg bug which broke a load of stuff (much broader than only DX), fixed an hour or so ago
[10:54:06] <dbarth> ok thanks, cnd will retry uploads soon
[10:54:25] <skaet> Thank dbarth. :) any update on the bugs - will the new drops fix some of them?
[10:55:07] <dbarth> the bugs fixed are attached in the release notes of the upload (SRUs)
[10:55:20] <dbarth> and for oneiric, there are also quite a few that are fixed
[10:55:26] <dbarth> in unity-2d i have the link handy
[10:55:37] <dbarth> for unity-gl i'm still waiting for the actual upload to have the full list
[10:55:45] <dbarth> but it will come as a set of milestoned bugs as well
[10:56:14] <ogra_> i noticed that we default to have composite on in metacity for unity-2d, that breaks a lot of apps that use fake transparency (i.e. gksudo has a black background instead of a transparent one)
[10:56:23] <ogra_> do you plan to keep that on ?
[10:56:43] <ogra_> if so, such apps will likely need to be touched
[10:57:02] <dbarth> ogra_: ah ok
[10:57:12] <dbarth> ogra_: hmm
[10:57:30] <dbarth> if there are loads of them, adding unity-2d tasks may be a bit difficult to deal with
[10:57:39] <dbarth> ogra_: can we see the list offline with Kaleo?
[10:57:41] <ogra_> i dont think there are loads
[10:57:55] <dbarth> to assess whether we can fix the apps, or need to revert to non-composite by default
[10:58:10] <ogra_> for now i noticed gksu only, but i guess you will see it with other apps that dont use proper compositing
[10:58:30] <ogra_> xchat might be affected
[10:58:39] <ogra_> (havent tested that)
[10:58:47] <ogra_> but yeah, lets take that offline
[10:59:09] <ogra_> ..
[10:59:13] <skaet> thanks dbarth, ogra_ :)
[10:59:19] <dbarth> ok
[10:59:33] <skaet> any other questions for dbarth ?
[10:59:58] <skaet> [Topic] Kubuntu Team update - ScottK
[11:01:04] * skaet lookin around, but sees ScottK's marked away
[11:01:16] <tumbleweed> last I saw, he said he was in an airport, with spotty wifi
[11:01:33] <tumbleweed> presumably gone
[11:01:53] <skaet> thanks tumbleweed, guess we'll move on.
[11:02:05] <skaet> [Topic] Edubuntu Team update
[11:03:28] <skaet> [Topic] Xubuntu Team update - charlie-tca
[11:04:02] <charlie-tca> Xubuntu goals for Oneiric are defined at
[11:04:04] <charlie-tca> https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Xubuntu/Roadmap/Specifications/Oneiric/DeltaReviewAndCleanup
[11:04:06] <charlie-tca> This is what we will use instead of blueprints.
[11:04:08] <charlie-tca> Xubuntu is trying to cut as many gnome dependencies as we can for Oneiric, since Xfce will stay at GTK2.
[11:04:43] <charlie-tca> We don't have any bugs to add at this time, since we haven't any images to determine if bugs are valid.
[11:04:56] <charlie-tca> ..
[11:05:21] <skaet> Thanks charlie-tca! :)
[11:05:32] <skaet> Any specific blockers on why you don't have images?
[11:05:48] <charlie-tca> no, just the change to the builds, I believe.
[11:06:02] <charlie-tca> cjwatson has been working on the images.
[11:06:22] <ogra_> that should have settled by now ...
[11:06:40] <charlie-tca> some of the fixes just got finished today
[11:07:08] <cjwatson> you got an i386 image yesterday
[11:07:31] <cjwatson> but yeah, there've been a few problems, I don't have any open ones at the moment
[11:07:37] <charlie-tca> It still had the partitioning error. You respun Ubuntu, but not ours
[11:07:55] <charlie-tca> The only image today was the 386 alternate
[11:07:56] <cjwatson> true
[11:08:10] <cjwatson> today's was bitten by the dpkg multiarch/triggers failure
[11:08:16] <cjwatson> not actually a cdimage problem as such
[11:08:18] <charlie-tca> Then I have no images
[11:08:31] <cjwatson> such is life in a development cycle
[11:08:36] <charlie-tca> agreed
[11:08:50] <charlie-tca> I am patient. Hopefully, monday will be better
[11:09:08] <cjwatson> you just have to keep squashing build problems with alacrity
[11:09:53] <skaet> thanks charlie-tca, cjwatson - fingers crossed for better images next week.
[11:10:01] <skaet> any other questions for charlie-tca?
[11:10:26] <skaet> [Topic] Toolchain update - slangasek
[11:10:33] <slangasek> hi there
[11:10:36] <skaet> :)
[11:11:00] <slangasek> the big thing in the pipe right now is that doko is evaluating eglibc 2.14
[11:11:41] <slangasek> the known breakage this will bring is that rpc support is disabled by default in 2.14, so anything that needs rpc headers would need to start build-depending on libtirpc instead
[11:12:43] <slangasek> otherwise, not much movement this week; I don't have an eta on when we'll be starting full-archive rebuild tests
[11:13:02] <slangasek> ..
[11:13:13] <skaet> Thanks slangasek! :)
[11:13:47] <skaet> appreciate the head's up on eglibc 2.14 breakage.
[11:13:51] <skaet> any questions?
[11:14:15] <skaet> [Topic] MOTU team update - tumbleweed
[11:14:27] <tumbleweed> hi
[11:14:29] <tumbleweed> Universe plods along, as ever.
[11:14:32] <tumbleweed> Toyed with some approaches to monitor FTBFSs. skaet suggested linking FTBFS bugs to a blueprint for a burndown table, but the LP API doesn't permit that.
[11:14:37] <tumbleweed> (And we need some automated cleanup of bugs tagged ftbfs when a build succeeds before that would be accurate)
[11:14:44] <tumbleweed> I've started collecting the csv files qa.ubuntuwire spits out, and will do some historical graphing from them.
[11:14:47] <tumbleweed> Getting that on ubuntuwire would be nice, anyone know if the source is public?
[11:14:55] <tumbleweed> nigelb and iamfuzz have a preliminary list of linker-related issuse suitable for a fixing-jam announc
[11:14:58] <tumbleweed> ement.
[11:15:01] <tumbleweed> ..
[11:15:15] <skaet> Thanks tumbleweed! :)
[11:15:47] <skaet> Looking forward to seeing what the graphing looks like from the csv files.
[11:15:56] <skaet> any questions for tumbleweed ?
[11:16:02] <tumbleweed> it'll take a few weeks before they are interesting
[11:16:17] * skaet nods
[11:16:46] <skaet> am not sure who can help on the ubuntuwire side, but will poke around
[11:16:51] <nigelb> tumbleweed: there's #ubuntuwire for talking to ubuntuwire folks
[11:17:02] <skaet> thanks nigelb :)
[11:17:11] <tumbleweed> nigelb: yeah, and I think /ftbfs/ is james_ws
[11:17:58] <skaet> any other questions?
[11:18:07] <skaet> [Topic] Community input on Q/R dates - wendar
[11:19:23] * skaet looks around for wendar?
[11:19:24] <wendar> Summary:
[11:19:39] <wendar> * Feature Freeze date more relevant than release date for most development, but some upstreams align with our cycle and make bug fix releases after FF.
[11:19:39] <wendar> * End of the month better for likely KDE upstream schedule, for bug fix releases.
[11:19:39] <wendar> * Halloween gets +2 for being home, no votes for being at UDS that week.
[11:20:30] <wendar> Are there other points people would like to add to that list?
[11:21:22] <skaet> ..?
[11:22:25] <wendar> Then I'll hand the input off to our Release Manager for consideration.
[11:22:45] <skaet> Thanks wendar
[11:22:56] <Daviey> ... /me is checking the dates for the next Openstack Design Summit, last UDS caused issues with that.
[11:23:54] <cjwatson> wendar: too close to end of the month for final releases causes high bandwidth costs because the payment stretches across two calendar months, I'm told
[11:23:55] <skaet> will check in with a few of the other stakeholders, and then make some revisions. Appreciate your gathering and summarizing of the input :)
[11:24:06] <cjwatson> so it would be best not right at the end if possible
[11:24:20] <skaet> good point cjwatson.
[11:24:24] <cjwatson> (that's just final release, FF obviously doesn't matter in that way)
[11:24:55] <skaet> anyone else have comments?
[11:25:15] <skaet> [Topic] Server team update - Daviey
[11:25:18] <Daviey> o/
[11:25:22] <skaet> :)
[11:25:25] <Daviey> Hello!
[11:25:25] <Daviey> == Feature Work: == * To enable tracking, for the core server deliverables we have added a topic:
[11:25:28] <Daviey> http://status.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-oneiric/group/topic-oneiric-server-overview.html
[11:25:31] <Daviey> We do need to reset the trend line and this is still WIP to fully give a rounded overview.
[11:25:34] <Daviey> Generally, progress on the feature work has been quite good. It feels it has slowed this week, as we have hit a few walls. However, we are bouncing onwards and upwards.
[11:25:37] <Daviey> * server-o-cobbler-next-steps - Most of the A2 commitments are DONE * server-o-drop-vmbuilder - Blocked on direction * server-o-ensemble - Most of declared commitments are either DONE or well under way INPROGRESS (awaiting zookeeper related work in Debian) * server-o-ubuntu-orchestra-server - largely meta blueprint, but making OK progress.
[11:25:42] <Daviey> * server-o-arm-erver - NCommander is driving this. Not beent able to sync since last meeting. Will follow up on. * server-o-openstack - Heavy burden on MIR's. Oh joy. * server-o-boot-experience - My understanding that this is make slow progress, need evaluate. * server-o-puppet-integration - adam_g spent a while onsite with puppet, and is collecting the achieved work; and hoping to showcase it soon.
[11:25:48] <Daviey> == Bugs: == - Comment: Incoming bug count for Oneirc is low. Natty incoming is higher. :(
[11:25:51] <Daviey> Bug 791454 - Needs to be reproduced.. not yet been looked at. Will be a priority first part of next week.
[11:25:52] <ubottu> Launchpad bug 791454 in mdadm (Ubuntu) "Oneiric Alpha1 Server x86 and x86_64 RAID1 Test Failed: Device need to be readded manually" [High,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/791454
[11:25:54] <Daviey> ..
[11:26:21] <skaet> Thanks Daviey ! :)
[11:26:25] <Daviey> pah, line break fail.
[11:26:42] <skaet> heh, it was readable
[11:26:47] <skaet> which is appreciated
[11:27:31] <skaet> looks pretty good for this point in the cycle.
[11:27:34] <skaet> any questions?
[11:27:50] <Daviey> none from me.
[11:27:56] <Daviey> any to me? :)
[11:27:57] <skaet> :)
[11:28:09] <skaet> any questions for Daviey ?
[11:28:11] <skaet> lol
[11:28:25] <skaet> [TOPIC] any other business?
[11:28:39] <skaet> I'm going to be on vacation next week.
[11:28:53] <skaet> wendar has kindly agreed to host this meeting.
[11:29:26] <skaet> any agenda changes, etc. please address to her next week.
[11:29:27] <skaet> ..
[11:29:32] <Daviey> skaet: have fun!
[11:29:48] <skaet> Daviey, :) yup will do.
[11:29:53] <skaet> anything else?
[11:30:05] <skaet> #endmeeting
Meeting ended.
