This type of magazine is less common then the 30 round Double Stack magazines. Orginaly developed for the AMD-65, a small compact AK commonly used by paratroops, they are now manly used by those who want to carry a lighter load or shoot in the prone position, they offer a balance between compactability and capacity. Since these magazines allow the user to shoot in the prone position more comfortable then the 30 round magazines because the magazine does not interfere with the ground, many users actually prefer this magazine to the 30 rounder. The short and ribbed construction makes for a very strong magazine that can fit into smaller places and take a lot of punishment.
